CoAIMH and WONDERBabies co-sponsored The HeART of Reflective Practice, a statewide workshop open to professionals who work with infants and young children with special health care needs. Reflective Practice is an essential component of supporting child-parent relationship based intervention, an state of the art approach which is essential to optimal socioemotional development of infants and young children. It is of particular importance when considering optimal outcomes for children with special health care needs and their families. Dr. Deborah Weatherston, Executive Director of the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health, a national leader of the Infant Mental Health education movement, was the primary presenter. Dr. Talmi and Dr. Browne also presented on a panel of experts in the field. The workshop, attended by 50 interdisciplinary professionals extended the capacity for quality health care for infants, children and their parents in Colorado.
