Lorraine F. Kubicek, Ph.D., is a Senior Grants and Research Associate at Colorado Social Research Associates and a member of the clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Denver. After completing her doctoral studies in Child Development at the University of Chicago and a certificate in Infant Studies at the Erikson Institute, Dr. Kubicek accepted a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Robert N. Emde in the Program for Early Developmental Studies at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She has extensive experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research with young children from diverse racial backgrounds who are normally developing, at risk or with special needs and their families. Her areas of expertise include early social-emotional development, language and communication, family routines, and parent-child interaction. Dr. Kubicek is a graduate fellow of Zero to Three and was President of CoAIMH from 2005 to 2007. She currently serves on the Blue Ribbon Policy Council for Early Childhood Mental Health, the Smart Start Colorado Office of Professional Development Advisory Board, and the Bloom Professional Development Committee. In 2006, she was a member of the Committee to Study the Issue of Challenging Behavior for Children under Six in Colorado.
